New voting-machine design solves security problems 12 Oct 2004
Safe, reliable voting is not just a utopian fantasy. A programmer and writer in Seattle has invented a voting machine that records every vote correctly. Each vote can be verified by the voter. No more worries that the people who make voting machines can control the vote. The system is very, very difficult to crack, and if a team of super-slick hacksters breaks in, their intrusion will be obvious.
Andrew Glassner's guest column about his invention is featured in the October 2004 Q LTD Newsletter. To receive future issues of the Q Newsletter, please register your name and e-mail on the Q Newsletter sign-up page.
