We were in Detroit visiting the DIA’s Through African Eyes exhibit. Afterwards we set off on a Banksy hunt. We had read the Metro Times story Bansky Bombs Detroit. We stopped on Cass Avenue near Willis, across from Curl Up & Dye salon. Was this it??? Kid Draws His Garden??? mmm, we had that uncomfortable feeling parked across from the wall … is this art, was it art, is someone pulling our leg? We drove away confused, but later when I referred back to the article and compared the original against my photo you can see it was a Banksy. The Metro Times notes its’ fate: “…out came the power-washer and, despite the pleas from the ladies at Curl Up, it was buffed out, leaving a ghostly charcoal outline against the gray slab. That wall with Banksy was worth at least twice as much as the whole property’s asking price. “
Someone obviously traced over some of the original line drawing with new paint or chalk, but underneath are the faint remains of the Banksy. So I guess we did indeed see the “ghost” of Banksy.
See more of his work here.

Fascinating. The ghost of the image! I’m glad you took the photo, because the naked eye wasn’t getting us anywhere.
