Kudos to the University of Michigan School of Art & Design for their excellent Penny W. Stamps Distinguished Visitor Series – a series of free lectures held at the venerable Michigan Theater on Thursdays at 5:10 pm. In December 2009 author Stewart Brand delivered an engaging rant entitled "Hacking Civilization" and shared ideas from his new book Whole Earth Discipline: An Ecopragmatist Manifesto. The new year started off with Stephanie Rowden, sound artist, treating our ears with her work including this piece Klezmer in Krakow.
This week dancer and choreographer Bill T. Jones will speak. Wow. I feel extremely fortunate to benefit from UM alumna Penny Stamps generous gift to our community along with additional support from Michigan Public Radio. Thank you!
