Last night, a group of Q folk attended 826 Michigan’s Storymakers Dinner at Zingerman’s Roadhouse in Ann Arbor. This is the third annual and it has been our pleasure to be involved from the start.

Today we received our own Q-designed invitations to the 826 Michigan Storymakers dinner. We are proud to be design sponsors once again for this annual event. 826 is such a wonderful group, supporting and inspiring young children in their creative writing.

It was good to be back at the North American International Auto Show during industry preview days visiting our client, Clark Hill PLC. And it was encouraging to see that the reigning Detroit-based auto show was up to speed with more of the energy and excitement of new vehicles and new ideas that were missing a few years ago.

OK, I’ll admit it. I’m not a car gal even though I was born and bred in the Motor City.

Celebrating Q People!

Posted by: Jocelyn Edin

Q recently turned 30 years old. In honor of this momentous occasion, we’ve spent the last few months putting together a project and planning a party, both of which focused on the various people that have made Q the company that it is today.

A Toast to Q LTD

Posted by: Grace Bienek

Hello : : My name is Grace Marie Bienek, and I have been interning at Q LTD over the summer until classes start up again in the fall. I am a vintage enthusiast - I collect, refurbish, re-sew, and adore vintage clothing, furniture, dish ware, nicknacks, and ( of course ) graphic design! My love for old timely things, has spilled into my own work as well as constantly becoming a source to where I look for design inspiration.

Found My Folk

Posted by: Jocelyn Edin

Another fabulous Ann Arbor Folk Festival! Once again, Q developed the promotional materials, including the poster, t-shirt designs, advertising, and program book. This year, Q introduced the tagline, "Find your folk" which resonated strongly with our client, The Ark, and the event. ‘Folk’ encompasses such a vast array of artists, each time you attend the Festival (or an Ark show for that matter), you discover the type of folk music that you’re attracted to. And on the other side of the coin, you meet and greet so many wonderful, interesting people at the event.

Last Tuesday, a friend and I went to Michigan State University to hear Jason Kernevich and Dusty Summers speak. They’re the talented duo behind The Heads of State, a graphic design and illustration studio in the City of Brotherly Love.

Blue is the New Green: A Colorful Night at the Auto Show

Posted by: Alissa Ampezzan

Last Friday, I was invited to the Auto Show Charity Preview event. The city was, like the featured cars, electric.

Those of us in the marketing world are familiar with buzz words, those words that seem to find their 15 minutes of fame for whatever reason and infiltrate the media. With the state of the environment ever-present on our minds, the past few years have seen the “green” theme grow (pun intended) to fame. But, it was clear upon entering the awe-inspiring room at Cobo: Blue is the new term synonymous with environmentalism.

Hockney and the iPhone

David Hockney, one of my longtime favorites, used an iPhone to paint this week’s New Yorker cover. Yes!

One day at ArtPrize

Posted by: Jocelyn Edin

Last Sunday, my daughter and I took a day trip to Grand Rapids to celebrate my younger brother’s birthday and to explore ArtPrize 2010. It’s definitely an event not to miss, but this year just reinforced my experience from the last, one day at ArtPrize is not enough.

This summer I was given the opportunity (and extreme challenge) to work on a graphic design project that would need to translate and scale into a full-size graphic vehicle wrap.

This summer, Q proposed a volleyball challenge to our friends (and law firm), Ferguson & Widmayer, P.C. They gladly accepted and the games took place this past Thursday at Independence Lake Park.
