Happy New Year (only for some brands)

Most companies will be looking to strengthen their positions in 2009 and some will be pushed to chart a new direction in order to avoid being a brand casualty.  In 2008 we saw some well-known brands pass on and if the current economic situation doesn’t ease up, I’m afraid we are going to see even more leave us this year.  The big names that have folded include:

Bombay Co.
Mervyn’s
Linens N’ Things
Aloha Airlines
ATA
Steve & Barry’s
Sharper Image
KB Toys
Bear Sterns
Lehman Brothers

I’m sure I’ve missed a few others. Please add to this list if you can think of others.
