Q Facelift

Posted by: Alissa Ampezzan

Well, a facade-lift, anyway. The new signage on the east side of Q world headquarters is a creative nod to our building’s history.

Since it was built around 1918, our home at 109 Catherine has had many lives, including: junk store, harness factory, barbershop, typesetting studio, Cuban restaurant, card and candy shop, travel agency, and auto garage. Starting in 1936, the front of the building was a small restaurant called Bob’s Lunch, named after the son of then owner Ed and our current landlord, Bob Kuhn.

Our new sign refers to the slogan that adorned Mr. Kuhn’s letterhead when the building was City Garage which read, “Comes in all shot, goes out ‘red hot’.”
